BMICalc 2.1
(Edit)Handheld users can now quickly and easily calculate body mass index (BMI) with BMI Calc, the new Palm OS program from the Obesity Education Initiative of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (National Institutes of Health). Body mass index is a weight-to-height calculation suitable for estimating total body fat in most adults.
Combining BMI with information about the person's waist circumference and additional risk factors (such as existing coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and sleep apnea) will help the user determine a persons' estimated risk for developing obesity-associated diseases. This information will help them to decide on appropriate treatment goals such as weight loss or avoiding further weight gain.
BMI Calc accepts English or metric input. The program includes a BMI classification table for adults, evidence-based information about BMI, and references for further information.
